Can you hook up your computer to a tv??

I was wondering if you can hook the computer/laptop to a normal TV, if you can, then how? It could be nice to try.

RobynRex I recently got a dynex 32 in tv and I want to use it for my computer monitor. I am having a couple a problems though. I hook up the hdmi and the sound does not come from the tv but still from the computer, how do I fix that and when I have the computer screen...
