shadowhawk38 As far as software goes, pick up a good IDE (integrated development environment) like Eclipse or Java, and a C++ compiler. Havok also released its entire physics software suite for games free for non-commercial stuff.

shadowhawk38 I don't think it really matters if programs are running during a defragmentation. The only effect I notice is that the defragmentation takes longer to complete.
