Can you make a living out of writing?

Do you believe that you can make a living out of writing? I mean, on writing alone? Or if you are already, then please do tell me. My family, as well as some of my relatives tells me that I cannot make a living out of writing....

silence2k89 It depends what different styles of writing are being made. You can become an author, a journalist, or even a blogger. Theres plenty of ways to make money writing. Just look at the internet. All of the information in the world is here you just gotta take it...

Well, do you? Do you agree that writing cannot be taught and that a person cannot be made a writer unless he or she was born one? This bugs me a lot. I spend a lot of time thinking how odd writers are...how bizarre this group...

silence2k89 I feel that writers are made. Of course the creativity has to be there, but overall if you learn how to you can really enjoy it. I feel the same applies to myself if i hated writing until i took a course in college.
