Respecting someone is more about your character than theirs, think of it that way. This being said, I believe that respect and loyalty should be given freely at first, then if they destroy that... They would most certainly have to earn it back. After that...

That is the problem right there... Your comment is how most of the people think, so no one tries, very sad! Those of who do care should show them that they are not empty words but words explaining the very character of how people should be.
