i heard on the news this morning that a law is trying to be passed where it will be a misdeamor if you are caught spanking a child...what does everyone think about this?? i think its to much interference from the gov,children need...

shooie I agree there is a difference between spanking and beating. We got spankings when we grew up. We didn't have the disrespect for adults that kids seem to have toward adults now days. Not all kids but a lot of them. I think the government need to but out. they...

starr4all I too think it's stupid for the government to come into my home and tell me how to raise my children. If a child is getting beaten, then of course someone should step in. But there is a big difference between spanking and beating.

smalltownmtngirl I agree with you..there is a difference between discipline and abuse. The abuse got so out of hand and people finally did something about it that it makes it almost impossible to discipline your child...but then its your fault when your children get in some...

lifeiseasy Exactly. But there are kids that need a tap on the bottom to get their attention. Who is the government to say how we discipline are kids.

Alexandria37 I don't believe a tap on the bottom, where there is a lot of fatty tissue, will do a child any harm. Some very young children just don't understand the meaning of words, but they would certainly understand a couple of little spankings. A spanking now, is...

lifeiseasy All kids are different and some kids respond to time outs and such but then again there are kids that need direct attention "ie" spanking. AS for barbaric do you read the bible??
