Is it safe to have a Pitbull as a pet if you have young children? If no, why?

raeleighb Yes, its safe. a dog is only mean if you teach it to be mean. I grew up with several pitbulls and they protected me. My kids will grow up with them too, they will not be afraid of dogs because of it.

raeleighb If they grow up together its totally SAFE! I grew up with several pitbulls. a dog is only mean if you teach it to be mean!

suzieque NO I don't think so!!!! Because I think that pitbulls are dangerous and known to be the deadlest dogs. There are so many horror stories of pitt Bulls that they were considered to be banned. I'm not sure if that went through.

phildail Definately, if you raise the dog to be a family member it will be the best investment you could make. Pit bulls are very protective of thier family and belonging. My pit loved my kids and as far as she was concerned the only reason God made kids was for her....

musecreek I don't think so either, but I do know that any dog could do it. My daughter was bit by a germanshepeard mix and a saint benaeard just nicked her right between the eyes. My grandmothe had a pitbull and he never bothered anyone.
