Grandma, me

I have two married sons now, so it is no surprise, after being for three years, one of them decided to make me a grandma. I knew it would happen eventually, but it feels super strange. I'm gonna be a grandma. Means I'm not so young anymore, I guess. I'm excited, but probably not as excited as I should be.But, It's not my child, it will be different than my kids. I don't call the shots, the mommy does. So this, is a new ball game. The sweet baby boy will be born in December. Tell me about life as a grandma if you are one.

I'm so happy for you! Our first grandbaby was unplanned and our daughter was 17. We were heartbroken at first, but that little sweetie was one of the biggest blessings of our lives. I don't know why, but grands are just different. Maybe because we don't have all the things that go with raising a child and usually have more time and money. Congrats!

@Belle Starr I haven't heard from you in over a year! How are you and your family doing? Also, do you hear from Jeff Moffatt? I thought about his this week, when we ended up with Covid. He had it twice and was a very sick man!

I'm not a mother, so obviously, I'm not a grandmother. But I remember how excited my dad and late mother were when my sister adopted their first child. They were thrilled, and I was over the moon. A sweet, adorable child I can play with, then hand back to their parents when they get fussy? Yes, please! You are going to be such a blessing to the baby.

It's the sweetest time of your life. You can spoil them. It's the grandma's right. And you'll want to. There's no better name than Grandma. I have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Congratulations to the parents-to-be, and you too.

Being a grandmother is fun and rewarding. At first, I wasn't sure, mostly because I was worried about my son-in-law (daughter's husband) and the probability that he would never take the time to spend with their children. Sadly, after two children, I was unfortunately correct in that guess. But it all worked out, they are lovely children. You will enjoy being a grandma! It's one of life's pleasures, plus, you can spoil them and send them home! That's the best part.

@mom210 I love my grandchildren so much. And it's so neat to see how they are all different, yet they each remind me of someone who has passed on, it's like a sweet bonus to see my sister's eyes in my grandson, or my grandmother's red hair in another grandchild...little and sweet bits and pieces of memories and times gone by...

I am envious. I would like to be a grandma. My son never stays in relationships though. Maybe some day that will change.

it probably will when he gets older. I keep telling my kids, forever is a really long time but they keep getting married. Another son just got engaged last weekend.

I was a grandmother for the first time at 30 years old. It is the greatest feeling in the world to be a grandmother. I love being a grandmother and being a great-grandmother. You can spoil the child and than send them home.

Congratulations to you. I have two stepchildren with families a stepdaughter with a four-year-old in Latvia and a stepson with a 7 year old daughter in the UK. I guess you could say they are my stepchildren but everyone lives so far from me I have not been in touch with the children in ages. I do keep in touch with my stepdaughter over Facebook and he lets me know how her brother and family are doing. My husband was able to see his granddaughter but never got to see his grandson but I am sure he is watching over both families,

Being a grandma has been the most awesome experience for me. When I was going to be a grandma for the first time it did feel weird and I immediately thought "gosh some little person is gong to call me grandma" and I'm going to feel so old. Nope it didn't make me feel old and that baby and all the other ones that came after all brought more joy than I can say. I hope you love being a grandma. December is coming quickly
