Has anyone else out there developed an allergic reaction to ibuprofen? If so, was it the first time you took it, or did you develop it after you had taken it for a while? What were your symptoms and how did you know what was...

Yes, 2 years later I still have symptoms. It's nowhere near as bad as when I was taking the drug, but I still get hives, and occasional periods of inflammation around the joints that comes and goes too quickly to be arthritis or anything like that. They've...

If you are allergic to ibuprofen, you should not take any NSAIDs (Non-steroidal ant-inflammatory drugs). This is a class of medication that includes aspirin, Naproxen (Alleve) and of course, ibuprofen, as well as many prescription drugs. All NSAIDs are...

Mouth sores is about the only symptom the Advil didn't give me. Wow. Hope you haven't had a symptom like this again!

Yep, palms of hands and soles of feet--same for me. Although mine originally started with fingers. Did your symptoms go away after you stopped taking the ibuprofen? Did they ever come back?

If you're allergic to ibuprofen, don't take aspirin or Naproxen (Alleve) either. They are cross-reactive with ibuprofen. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is safe--a different type of drug. The others are in a class called NSAIDs (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs),...

Trishleagh, I hope you are doing better now. I still have problems two years later, and while I've learned a lot, I've also learned that no one has definitive answers about this. One thing I learned for sure though, is that if you're having these kinds of...

OMG! You are so lucky to be alive. I think everyone should carry benadryl at all times, because you never know when you could develop a severe allergic reaction to something. Better safe than sorry. I also can never take an NSAID again.

The key is to always remember that we can develop an allergy to anything at any time. Don't assume that Advil is safe just because you haven't developed an allergy to it yet. I took it for 20 years before it caused me any problems. I'm not saying that you...
