Can a macbook get a virus?

i am wondering because macbooks are sold on this statement that mac is virus free,since it is the main source of publicity , so what exactly is it ?

Nixy123 Macs do get viruses, but as more people use PCs there are less. They are no more secure than PCs, it's just a marketing gimmick really!

Nixy123 When I had my car accident the insurance company paid the price I paid for the car, minus a little as I'd had a few years use. It was more than 70% of what I paid though. Bare in mind this happened in England, so your experience may be different :)

Nixy123 I used to have a really hard time saying no when I was younger, but doing lots of things I didn't want to lead to me learning to say no! I've learnt how to say no, but not offend anyone by doing it, or coming across grumpy!
