Getting baby to sleep

I have a 10 month old and naptime is such a struggle. I have tried many different methods. I have tried a consistant routine, letting him cry it out, trying before he's too tired, waiting til he's REALLY tired, and rocking him....

Shemagh My nephew is 14 months and I have babysat him since he was a newborn. What always worked to get him to sleep was music, especially slow songs and if I sang along softly with them.
