Ah.. confused of these devices!!!!

I have been hearing about all these instruments or devices like rectifiers, inverters etc. and are connected with power circuits. Are they really matter if you have a good power supply or well maintained power lines?

Utkarsh Bamrara of course they matters even if you have a good power supply you need to rectify your ac power to dc or to invert the logic....:)
