If so, how often do you normally do it? We brush our dog's teeth about once a week. I use a finger brush and poultry flavored toothpaste and he doesn't seem to mind it at all. Some people think it's silly that we do this, but I...

Yep, some dogs just aren't that receptive to it...the vet has told me that if they eat dry kibble and chew on something (Kong, chewies, etc.) that it helps their teeth as well. I don't think fingers count...too soft lol!

That's fantastic! Is that your dog in your avatar? I have to ask because I adore pugs and our dog is actually a pug/terrier mix.

Dogs seem to do better with the whole brushing the teeth thing the younger you start them on it. I have to laugh at the number of toothpaste flavors that are currently out there. Last time I was at Petsmart they had: malt, beef, poultry, and vanilla-mint...

Yep, soft food can cause their teeth to need more attention. Luckily, our current dog eats dry kibble and chews his rawhides so the weekly teeth brushing is keeping his tartar under control. Our little terrier mix (RIP) could only eat soft food because his...

Or do you take your dog to the vet or groomer to have their nails trimmed? I am always so nervous that I am going to cut our dog's nails too short and cause him tobleed, so we cough up $16 every time he needs his nails trimmed and...

I have heard that flour works as a great alternative to styptic powder. Thanks for the response!

Did it take awhile before your dogs got used to the noise of the dremel like tool? Our dog is afraid of the vacuum cleaner, so I wonder how he would respond to the sound. That sounds like an interesting possibility, and when I worked as a veterinary assistant,...

That's pretty cool that your nail clippers have a safeguard on them. Have you seen the ones that have some sort of "quick detector" in them? Apparently they have colored lights that let you know if you are too close to the quick. I've often thought about...

It's funny how the reaction can differ from dog to dog when it comes to getting their nails trimmed/feet touched. Our dog only has one white nail on each of his two front paws; if they were all white, I think I would feel more comfortable trimming them myself....
