alieonfire i suggest you get the Canon PowerShot camera. They are semi-DSLR camera and got the zoom feature. But if you have more budget , u can get canon eos 450D. Alternatively , u can check www.dpreview.com or www.fredmiranda.com for camera review. Both sites review...

Is photography hard to learn?

I have two young children and I would learn photography to save money and because the kids have those special moments that you can't catch at a studio. So I was wondering is this something I could learn on my own?

alieonfire yes sure . u can begin with purchase beginner camera such as canon eos 350D or nikon d40 and start taking photos of your children. there are many sites that can teach u how to take nice photos . u can go to flickr.com , photo.net , or dpreview.com .

alieonfire currently i have canon eos 300D . i bought it 4 yrs ago. but mostly for work i use nikon system and my canon camera i mainly use it for personal. hopefully i can upgrade my camera this year . my next camera will be canon eos 5d .
