Why is it that when someone tells you that there are over a billion stars in the universe, you believe them, but if they tell you there is wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it to make sure?

Magikrose I think it is a sensory thing. We know we cant touch the stars yet it is obivous there are too many to count wo we assume that when someone tells us that there are a billion stars that it seems logical because there are a lot but when it comes to wet paint it...
