magojordan I suggest you get him to enroll in swimming lessons. Learning to swim at an early age would really be a good thing for a kid to grow healthy and strong. Maybe it's not too late if both you and your son learn to swim. It's a good bonding activity too....

cripfemme My mom never swam. She still doesn't but she always sat on the pool edge with her feet in the water or she stood in the water with me (shallow end) while I splashed around and played. You could try that, too!

babystar1 why dont you go out and buy a small child size pool and take him out everyday and let him play in the pool. When he gets bigger buy a larger pool. That what I did with my kids, they all learned on there own they never took swimming lessons.

Sillychick You don't have to be able to swim. Just get in the water, in the shallow part, and hold him. Let him kick his feet, splash a little and get used to being in the water. Or if that is a little much for you, get a kiddie wading pool and let him get in and splash...
