Why some dogs need to remove their tails?

I don't understand why some kinds of dogs need to remove their tails by a minor operation. Why they can't keep their own tails? My friend told me that is because the dogs will be much more naughty if their tails are available....

bigkorey I think dogs should remove their tails because it makes them act up... and if they fight it can seriously hurt them... and tails are ugly
