Clarkeson Thanks for your response. What was the claim held by the scribes against Jesus? Read matt 26:62-67. You would get to know why John was reluctant in answering them. It's not that he can not say so, but it will hinder his mission if he gets killed before time.

Clarkeson From that definition of soul and from your own believe that John the baptist has the spirit and power of Elijah, it is quite that Elijah's spirit came back in the form of John the baptist.

Clarkeson Elijah did not die. He was taken alive, so that passage does not include him. Prophet Isaiah also prophesied about him coming before Jesus.
