How would you help chain SMOKERS to stop smoking?

One of my friend is a chain smoker and he almost finishes 2 box of ciggrettes in a day ... and hez even lost lot of weight ... i have tried my best to make him cut down his smoking .. but it still did not work out... wha would you...
