how do you get mew on red, blue and yellow versions?

hi guys. i earlier thought that mew is unobtainable except through nintendo/pokemon conventions. however, a friend said that there's a glitch in the game that you can actually get mew. does anyone know? please help.

It's one of my fave gameboy games! I've never beat it, though. The most I've caught is probably, 100. I may no be good, but it's fun! Anybody else still play the old game?
