If you cook cabbage on New Year's,the next year will be prosperous.Spilled rice brings good luck.If you eat hoppin'John(black-eyed peas and rice cooked together)on New Year's Day,you will have good luck all year.

ericfernandez1978 My grandfather told me that,and he said to me that it's our forefathers culture,Here's a new one Don't wash clothes on New Year's Day or someone in your family will die,pretty scary!but it's just a superstition,and it's up to you if you will neglect it.
