Can boy and girl be just best friends?

I am certain there are the occasional instances of boy and girl being best friends...but what do you think...? can a guy and a girl be friends and nothing else? Can two people who really like each other on such a personal level...

gupili But there can be a exception. A girl and a boy, they know each other since they were kids, they grew up together. Maybe they choose to keep this friendship because they know each other very well and there is no attraction, no passion between them.
