Gladiator: Did the producers tried to save money by stealing ideas

Gladiator was a powerful film, but there were two scenes in particular which showed that the producers were saving money and which take away from the film being a true classic. Did anybody else notice what was borrowed or...

hal9000 At the start of the film when the romans were fighting the germans. When the germans charged a soundtrack from the film Zulu was used as their battlecry.....cheapskates
