Do you earn by starting a discussion?

I noticed that when I start a discussion, it does not increase the number of posts that I make. For example, if I have 651, then if I start a discussion, it still is at 651. So, I am wondering if Mylotters get paid for starting...

LeVay @Hence27 I've just started here - thanks so much for the clarification. I, too, had no idea how or why the numbers were calculated.
