How long til kittens are weaned?

My cat had her babies a couple nights ago. They're so cute! I'm sad because I'm gonna have to give most of them away. Anywho, how long does it normally take for kittens to be weaned? I had heard 6 weeks. Is that true?

ilvoce Thank you all for your thorough and informative responses. I'll be giving the kittens away to family members, so I'm pretty sure they'll be taken good care of.
