Greetings, I'm in search of a tree that I can plant in my front yard for shade. I prefer a tree that does not have deep roots that would disturb my foundation and one that does not lose many leaves and can handle the fickle...

flowers or something else

I love flowers but practically wise I'd rather be given something tangible or have a date. I told my husband, that I love flowers but I'd prefer a date or Cake for Valentines. How about you?

janiam I'll have to agree, I do like flowers, just not as a gift- no longevity! My husband works nights, so " date nights" are few and far between. He has cleverly started giving me plants; some of which I've had for years!... Love coupons (found at Hallmark shops)...

Growing an avocado plant from a pit?

Have you ever done it? I was wondering if you have to dry out the pit and I would like to know the best way to root the pit to produce the best plant. Thanks!

janiam I did plant avacado seed. I washed it and planted it directly into the soil. I grew about 4 inches tall; and then stopped growing. eventually, our dog ate it! I would also like to know why it stopped growing.
