My ginger tom brought home a tiny kitten,fed and washed her...is this unusual?

Now I think they must be married.... He has always been an unusual cat,after he was hit by a bike on the road outside our house,he lay on my bed,without moving,for 3 days,then just got up and went outside,one night,all better.
