Should photographers be allowed to take pictures anywhere,at any time?

Photo from a plane - While traveling with my family,I visit many different countries, all have some restrictions on when and where you can take photos...so this would be OK in some places, but not others...What do you think ?

I'm asking, because many countries have new laws to limit this, and as a new photographer, want to know what everyone thinks. A friend in London told me security guards asked him to delete a whole bunch of pics, last week, because terrorists could use them for bad reasons..he was taking photos of a red London bus,at the time - just like hundreds of tourists do,every day....

While generally that is true,my local mall has had a series of live music shows, and they are very happy to have some photographers stop by to take pics of the bands on stage, which is great practice for me..you just have to ask nicely...

Well I guess with terror on the rise authorities are just trying to look out for our well being. But it is a bummer for photographers who just want to take pictures of interesting subjects.:)

I think some but few restrictions should apply. Security issues I understand... a public bus? No, that should be fair game. Just my take on it.
