The word for Motherland

What is the word for "motherland" in your language? What is its exact translation to English? I wonder because it is different sometimes. Its "anavatan" in Turkish. "Ana" meaning mother and "vatan" meaning land. But for instance...

Which season of Family Guy you like the most?

I couldn't see episode 6, but I watched most of first 4 seasons, and first 8 episodes of season 5. And I can definitely say that I like season 5 the best! Annoying Stewie (lois, lois, lois, mom, mom.....) in episode 1, soldier...

US going too far?

Today, I came across a map showing US Military existence in the world (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6a/US_military_bases_in_the_world_2007.PNG) and couldn't stop to think that the "American Empire" is going too far....
