Today, I came across a map showing US Military existence in the world (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6a/US_military_bases_in_the_world_2007.PNG) and couldn't stop to think that the "American Empire" is going too far. Ok, I knew that US interferes and want to control all situations in the world, but, c'mon, they are US Troops everywhere! Do you think this is right?

Nope I don't think it's right.
But it's the way of the world, there will always be one super power who will exploit and rule the others. That's how you keep control, and make sure no harm comes to your country or it's economy.
Some people look at it all through rosy colored spects - 'the US military want to be there in the event of a disaster' etc. We all know the US isn't spending that much on their military to wait around for the next disaster to go in and save everyone.
If only we really knew what was going on in these countries - the way people are being arrested and tortured for opposing the west, the puppet governments our governments support and install while claiming 'we want democracy', the exploitation by thwe western corporate entities, the loss of soveriegnty and lowering living standards.
But maybe we will be unlucky enough to find out one day. No nation stays the superpower forever. Looks like China is set to become the next super power, and what a brutal regime that is. We complain about Guantanimo Bay and what goes on in there and the other detention centres, and what to do with them now, but if it was China at war with Iraq, these detainees wouldn't even be a problem anymore, they would have been murdered ages ago. We would be praying for detention centres like Guantanimo Bay!

Yeah, if China will become the next super power, i'm afraid the world will not be better than it is now. Maybe a world with two super powers was better. A world with no super powers may be the best.

There is no Empire whatsoever, only military presence due to many factors. An Empire supposes a central control which is not the case - ooopppsss, not the way you'r thinking :P.
Spain is free, Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy, you name it. Bosnia, Kosovo and some other conflict regions were asked by the United Nations. Some countries let them use the facilities to be protected in case of a war with Russia or China.
Most of the map could be drawn 60 years ago at the end of WWII. If they were given the option, they would never leave the homeland, ask Bosnian what happened then ...

I know that Spain, Germany, Canada etc. are "free". (Except that Canada and Australia recognize Queen of UK as the head of state, not the point here.)
I was obviously being sarcastic using the word "empire". It was not used in its first meaning. I rather tried to refer the influence of USA.
Do you think it is normal for one country to have hundreds and thousands of soldiers in nearly half of the countries in the world?

Hehe. And the world was a little better when he was on power. Happy new year.
