What's the point of adding friends on MyLot?

Is it beneficial in any way or do people just add you for the hell of it? Why are people requesting to be my friend. I don't even know them.

CinderInMySoul i THINK that its to get more responses to your discussions. like someone above said. you reply to your friends discussions and they reply to yours. but it doesnt always work like that...at least it hasnt for me! other than that, i cant think of any reason...
