I am wondering who should open the door when the guest leaves his host's place. Should the host lead his guest to the door or should he politely follow his guest to the door to close it after the guest leaves? Is there a code of...

I think it all depends on the situation. If you have informal visitors, like friends, they can open the door for themselves. In every other case it would be courteous to open the door yourself.
