Have you ever had to put your dog down?

My best friend has to be put down tonight. He's 12, and he has had horrible arthritis pain recently. It got to be really bad all of a sudden, the vet prescribed him some pain medication, but he's gotten worse the past few days....

milk4140 I'm sorry about your loss. It's never easy. We've had two cats that we had to put down due to old age and sickness. I miss them both, but I take comfort in the fact that we spared them suffering.
