why do people look at the price when you give them a gift ?

I have always found some of my friends rating a gift based on their price. why? A gift is a gift, isn't it? And, some of my friends also tear the price tag before giving the gift. Do you have the habit of doing like this? If...

munna009 No. you have to judge that what your friends think about you. if your friend give you a low priced gift then you will sure that he doesn't care about you. If he/she give you a high priced gift then I ensure you that he/she cares about you very much.
