How to respond when people say 'I'm sorry' !!!!

When people say something like 'I'm sorry for your loss', or 'I'm sorry that you're having a bad day',..etc ...what are you supposed to say? I never knew I usually say..'It's okay,it'snot your fault'..or'it's ok'..something...
