What do you think of people chewing or talking with their mouth open? Do you think this is a disgrace? My sister chews with her mouth open and I can not stand it! She sometimes makes these funny noises when she chews; but when her friends are around; that is like gone and she eats quietly and in a lady-like manner. It is sort of funny at times when people try to talk with their mouth open; but the humour wares-off in my opinion. What are your views? Looking forward to your opinion on this 'contentious' issue.

I can't stand the sound that comes when some is chewing and talking or keeping their mouth wide open when taking food. those kacha pacha sounds irritate me a lot and i wont hesitate to let them know that its not the right habit.

Your sister sounds alot like my son. He only chews with his mouth open when he is able to annoy his other siblings. Doesn't do it when his friends are around. Or she might not even realize that she is doing it. My youngest doesn't seem to realize that he does it till we tell him that it is annoying. He will stop for a while an then go right back to doing it.

I think it is rude and disgusting to talk or chew with your mouth open. I personally do not want to hear someone trying to chew and talk at the same time or just chewing away. It is annoying and gross. People need to keep their mouths closed when eating. You can hear some awful sounds when someone chews and it is hard to understand what someone is saying when they are chewing and eating at the same time. This is a good topic as I know some people that do this and it drives me crazy.

It can be rather disgusting, and did you know when you open your mouth and talk whilst there is food in it, the taste molecules are expelled from the mouth so you lose the flavour?

This is a pet peeve of mine, it drives me crazy. My Mother does this all the time and I am just waiting for her to choke one day. Big talkers do not even realize they are doing this I think. I try hard not to engage in a conversation when I am eating. It is disgracful and dangerous in my opinion. It was a very hard habit for me to break my son of, he did it at times to be cute. Other times he just forgot, because he did it so much. It is a learned behavior and must be taught at a very young age.

it is but proper to chew with your mouth close, this has been taught to us by our parents. people who still chews with their mouth open only means that their parents are not taught by their parents manners.since she is your sister then it is your duty to teach her but not in a way offensive to her or else she won't follow you. use a little psychological persuasion.

That is so nasty,I have to keep reminding my son's girl friend to chew with her mouth close who in the world wants to see other peoples food being chewed.I taught my son at a very early age that it is bad manners to chew their food with their mouths open or even talk with a mouth full of food I can not stand it.

Forgive me but I cannot bare it if one chews with open mouth..and there times that a sound goes with it... goodness!!! trust me!! I cannot eat with that kind of person... it is so gross for me.. very indecent and very unetiquette.. It is very okay to correct this people because if you wouldn't, maybe think it is fine with you that one acts such thing.... as for me, I always call somebody's attention.

It is quite good manners to close your mouth when chewing. I am a good guy so that's what I do. I also make sure to chew with my mouth close.

I guess it doesnt really bother me. What I do hate is when you chew with your mouth open and smack your food...now that is really annoying...but otherwise i am pretty calm about it all. Some people only know how to chew certain ways so I dont let it get to me.

I think it is alot better to chew with your mouth closed. No one have to see the sight of you chewing at all. I find it to be very gross.

Yuck!! I think it's just vile. Even worse for me though are people who continue to talk with a whole pile of food jammed into their craw. My Dad does it all the time and when he's talking, little bits of food come flying acrooss the table. I always make sure that I am never sitting directly across from him as it puts me off my dinner.
