I'm a big Douglas Adams fan and love the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. I love the humourous descriptions and dialogue in the books. Things like:
"The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't."
I also love P G Wodehouse and his Jeeves and Wooster novels. My favourite quote from him is:
"It is never difficult to distinguish between a Scotsman with a grievance and a ray of sunshine."

interesting. mine is by leon bloy: "man has places in his heart which do not yet exist, and into them enters suffering in order that they may have existence."
i chanced upon this when i read graham greene's "the end of the affair" (which is my favorite book, btw). i suppose if one was able to relate to the book, or just was able to experience something near to its story, then he/she will feel the gravity and harshness the quote reveals about people, life and love. i attest to it.
