Well done! As a smoker who's tried to stop loads of times (and managed it once for 2 years) I know how tough it is. I'm trying to gear myself up for another attempt at giving up. It's just that I act like a crazy person when I'm going through withdrawals. I can't cope with my own moodswings let alone other people coping with them. I will do it though.

Right well they have brought out this thing htat migth be the thing for you. It has been out in America for ages and has been highly sucessful, Zyban. It was primarily used as an anti depressant but research has shown that it can help everyone in quitting smoking. It says it helps allievate some of the withdrawel symptons and you take it a few weeks in advanc eof quitting. Let me know if you want me to copy and paste the article for you to read but you should go to http://www.quitnet.com as you can read lots of things there. I am a full paid member but can copy and paste things for you to read that you may find useful.

Food certainly does taste amazing. But I remember I used to eat very spicy things and now I can't handle some of it.

I was never one for spicy foods, So I would not know if I would be more sensitive to them now.

Congratulations! I see that you posted this 2 months ago, so I hope that you're still smoke-free! You must be feeling great by now! You should be very, very proud of yourself. I know that for me, quitting smoking was the hardest thing that I've ever done, yet it was the best thing that I've ever done for myself, also. Stick to it, even when it gets rough. It DOES get easier, but don't ever let your guard down. Remember, one puff leads right back to a pack a day...

I do feel as though I have achieved so much but I dont know if I really will ever be safe. If something bad was to happen or I was stressed then there is a chance if I let my guard down then I may smoke.
So I just got to be always careful but I have the determination/

Did you use the patched, if so are they any good? If I ever try to give up I don't think I will bother with them.

congrats on quitting. I also quit, last summer. My boyfriend and I both quit using the patch. Our quitting date was set way in advance (july 5th) and lot of our friends knew about our Quit date. At first it was hard. we both had to avoid alot of our favorite bars and restuarants because we associated them with smoking. It didn't help that soon after my grandfather passed, and at the same time my BF started a new job. It was very stressful, but we made it and are still smoke free.
Do you miss it at all? there are times I miss it, like at certain bars or when driving.

I am proud for you. I've been trying very hard to quit smoking. I did for a bit but started again. I'm not back to where I was, but I have one or a half of one a few times most days. It's terrible that I'm so weak. I really want to stop smoking but the days that I didn't smoke, I went crazy thinking about it. I kept waiting for that feeling to go away, and it never did.
Anyway, I've very happy for you. How did you quit? Did you use nicotine replacement, gum, smoking patches, shots, cold turkey, or a method of your own?

Congratulations. I have been there and done that and it sounds like you are well and truly over the hump. Has it gotten to the point where the smell of them being smoked by others bothers you?

Oh dear I am jumping for joy for your success. Quiting is not an easy task I don't care what some people say and it is a huge accomplishment in life when you do manage to break yourself of that horrid habit.

Smoking is really a addiction and not easy to quit all of sudden. But good thing is there are many rehabilition center for helping to get rid of these habits. Try them and make a great change in your life.
