why clocks and watches displayed for sale are set to 10:10?

This is because of these facts: 1) At 10:10:31 position, the three moving hands of a clock take the shape of 'Y' and this displays the three hands at their maximum displacement position from each other. 2) The time 10:10 is the most active time of the day for all world-wide and most suitable time of night for rest. Hence the most important time! 3) Commercially this display of time has been chosen on clocks to give a good view of clocks in publicity and show-rooms for good marketing purposes also. That is why display of 10:10 in clocks has been accepted world-wide for publicity and marketing purposes. Thanks.

I like your answer #1 you seemed to be the most logical answer I could think of. I too was curious about it since i was in high school too. But no one seems interested answering my queries on it. only now i have seen this question brought up in here. :D

I never noticed guess I will have to watch better but I watch tv while am on here so really dont watch the commicials .

YES! Timex xtarted it as a way to ensure that the brand name, situated under the 12 would always be showing, and most other clock and watch manufacturers adopted it as a good idea.

i really havent noticed it. i will check it out next time a pass by a watch boutique. maybe it looks better in 10:10 time. :) haha, weird that you notice even this kind of stuffs :)
