Has anyone heard this band? I was only recently introduced to them. Rolling Stone did an article on them and considered them akin to "The Carpenters (without anorexia) + Violins"... it seems like a relatively accurate portrayal.
Their Myspace tag is 'peace on earth forever'; the singer in the group, a woman named Becky Stark, stated in the magazine article that she couldn't find the type of music she wanted to listen to, so she started making it herself. Their songs are very hip... I fell in love with them because they are reminiscent of the old folk music that prevailed during the sixties and seventies, and they have a lighthearted innocence about them.
They released a new CD this year called "Imagine Our Love"; you can find them on Myspace and listen to a few of their songs, or go to their website, http://www.lavenderdiamond.com.
This isn't really a plug for them, although I'd like to introduce more people to their music. Has anyone heard of this band, and if so, what are your opinions?

I love the Carpenters...but I am pretty old school, lol. I'd love to have a listen to Lavender Diamond. I love the name. It implies something beautiful and whistful. I am going to visit the website, and check it out. Thanks for a great post.

I love their cover art. It is phenominal. Too bad I can't go up to Portland and check out one of their concerts.
