If you have read my other discussion you know that we will be going camping tonight. It got me thinking HOW do others camp? We like to camp in a tent! It would be nice if we were traveling for an extended time to go in an RV but for weekend trips I like to camp in a tent. I like being so close to nature, I think it is fun! One thing I haven't tried yet but would love to try is staying in a cabin, I think this would be really fun! So how about you, how do you like to camp? How would you like to camp if you could camp anyway you wanted?

OK sweets this old body of mine used to love going for the weekend or in fact weeks and staying in a tent. didn't mind it a bit sleeping in damp clothes, the bugs, the sunburn. the sand. Now I couldn't handle a night of it. Not just because of my illness although that is a major factor .I have become a creature of comfort. Although by this i don't mean luxury by any stretch. John and I stay in these awesome little cabins when we go camping. There tiny, just a double bed a love seat and a tiny 13 inch TV with 3 channels and a few dishes and a shower and a sink. But we love it there are 4 cabins and there right on the beach and everyone gets together in the evening and builds a fire providing the weather is good most times there are traffic storms lol.
so I'm a cabin girl and its like 45 dollars a night we take our food because there a toaster and coffee machine there. so its a fun weekend.
you take care and have fun including a pic of the cabins
hugs
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl! Those cabins you are telling me about sound wonderful. I only went camping in a tent this weekend, we can't afford a cabin right now. I can't wait to try cabin camping though, they have some really cool looking ones in Ruidoso.

We used to go camping all the time before we had the kids and even for a while when they were little and we always stayed in a tent. I alwas thought that the trailer route was a little bit of cheating...we ended up buying one and only had it for a while before selling it....it just seemed to take away alot of the fun and charm of camping....give me a tent and sleeping bag anytime.

I feel this way too. We have gone camping with friends who had an RV and we camped in a tent. I felt like we were the ones acutally camping not them. I understand though that some can not sleep in a tent because of medical reasons.

We camp in a camper. It is so nice. We love to go, just to get away from everything and spend time with the kids.

I have slept under the stars in a sleeping blanket, slept in a tent, a cabin, a trailer and an rv. I love the rv best. Perhaps because I am older now, the rv is most comfortable.

I hope you're having the most wonderful time in your camping weekend:)
In our home we are like you. WE do prefer camping in a tent, specially for short camping trips or in a hiking or canoing trip where we need to go light of course:)
Sometimes, for longer trips an RV would do really nicely, or at least a nice tent trailer. But that just doesn't feel like real camping. Comfy but kind of cheating hehe
I did stay at a cabin a few times and it was nice. No wasting time setting up and it sure had a bit more comfort than the tent. But I didn't really called that camping ;)

I went camping in a cabin and I loved it. I don't like tents because I am claustaphobic (fear of being in small places). I freak out because I feel that I won't be able to breath. I like cabins because I feel like I am in a tent but it is as big as a hotel room.

I LOVE camping! We are going in 2 days. My 2 year old niece thinks it's the greatest thing ever. She runs around in the tent for a while screaming "wook at me! HI! Hello". Then she comes out & fishs a few minutes. Next thing she does, Brings us marshmellows & hot dogs to be roasted over our open fire. We always use a tent. Well, we went for 2 1/2 weeks one time, & stayed in a cabin. Thats not camping though. Its just like takeing a vacation. We try to go in our tent at least 2 times a month during the summer. Just because my niece loves it so much. Like someone else said, we dont camp on the camp grounds. We either camp on the river (no one around for miles & miles. Nothing but water, trees & animals & most people dont camp there cause it's rough) or in the woods beside a creek called Rocky Creek. Either way, there is no one around for miles & miles. Its great. Well, other then the peeing in the woods part:) We always use a tent & always camp beside a place were we can fish all night.

I love to camp in a tent, but for some reason everytime I do, it rains. Not just a little rain, but a monsoon type of rain. Where you end up being forced out of the tent into a hotel. I am on my 6th tent now.
I have been thinking maybe an RV is a better way to go about it. LOL

When I was younger I preferred a tent. Now that I am a little older and 'ole Arhur' has settled in my back and hubby has had two total hip replacements, we require a pull camper. There is no way hubby could get up and down out of a tent anymore. We bought a pull camper and really like it!

We love to camp. We use a tent also. We are just country folk around here. We do not go to a campground. We go along way from civilization along the river somewhere and set up camp. We have always done this. We love the peace and quiet that nature affords us.
I have a friend who will not camp unless there is water adn power hook up for her camper. I jsut laugh at her and tell her that she is not really camping till she goes and has not power and has to use a nearby stream for water. LOL

I love to go camping. I can't do the tent thing, these poor bones hurt too much to sleep on ground level. We have an old motor home nothing big and nothing fancy but it's comfortable and I love getting away from the house. I love sitting around a camp fire with my family and I even love doing dishes, but I do my dishes outside at a picnic table I love it.

I go camping every now and again. Using a tent is the most adventurous way to be with nature. My back unfortunately requires more comfort now adays so I've reverted to using a cabin or a caravan whichever is available. I can still be with nature and with comfort for my aching back. :o)
