Do you reward yourself enough?

Do you reward yourself enough? - A picture of a lady being pampered with a massage.

Don't move! Put your hands above your head! No lies now. This is a truth-or-get-shot question. Do you reward yourself enough? I have spying gadgets installed all over your homes so I know exactly what you have been doing. In fact, as part of my phase A plan of ruling the world, I have already propagated my spy virus. By now, most, if not all, of you should have breathed in the virus and I now have access to all your thoughts. *evil cackle* (Oh mine, wizzy sure got carried away again. :P) But seriously, I can guess how hard most of you work. And this does not even necessarily refer to a "real" job. You can be a stay home mum or dad, or even a full-time granny - and I am willing to bet that most of you "work" quite hard. Some people like to take an occasional holiday to pamper themselves. Others may buy a new dress/gadget after getting their paychecks. In fact, I want to highlight something that might have been missed. For those of us who spend considerable time at myLot, I know it gets demoralizing when we compare the amount of effort we put in with the real earnings we get. Even though the pay isn't impressive, hey, this *is* still work and I think we deserve a reward after working hard. So do you reward yourself *enough* after working so hard? Or do you simply slog forever and ever without even pausing to catch your breath? Or do you over-indulge yourself and pamper yourself excessively? :P Do share your thoughts. ;-)

I wondered what that blinking red light in the corner of every room was. Now I know...it's your spy cameras. Hmmmm. I don't know about you Lordwarwizard, lol. It is hard to reward oneself, I think. At least for those of us that are in an older generation, because we are taught that "self rewards" are bad, they are selfish, we shouldn't need them, blah, blah, blah. I rarely do something just for me. If I go shopping, I buy for hubby, the kids, the grandson, the house, usually anyone but me. I am getting better though. I bought a couple of new summer tops last week, but only because it was my birthday. I think that everyone should be able to have the freedom to appreciate the hard work they do on a daily basis and should have a reward system in place for when they complete their work. The reward system doesn't always have to revolve around money though. It could be as simple as taking two hours for yourself, and sitting by the lake, or a long hot bubble bath, just so long as it's all about "you". I hope this made sense, I feel like I'm rambling. Great post wizzy.

tsk tsk - You are in the running for best response!
Nah, those are not my cameras. How can I observe efficiently if the cameras are so easily detected? :P You need to reward yourself more. But at least you did the minimum - for your birthday. I do that too. ;-)

i would say probably not-my friends yell at me for this.i always put my family first, and have very little time or $ to do something for myself.plus,i'd probably feel guilty if i did. one of these days though,i swear i'm gonna sneak in a vacation just for me.

I am guilty of not rewarding myself too often. My reward is more of the satisfaction I get when I have helped another person. I do agree that people need to give themselves a reward every now and again. But, I have always been one to live by the old addage "It is better to give than receive".

I haven't got much time or energy to pamper myself and without my Beloved Husband by my side I feel all I must to is work like a dog until I can see him again and I need to work very hard so we have enough money to buy the relevant visas. Pause? No Pause Wizzy..Have to work my guts out man as failure is a luxury I sure can't afford. When I am with my Hubby gain then I am sure I will take time to relax BIT. NOW WORKING HARD HELPS ME TO PINE CONSTRUCTIVELY AT LEAST.

Barbie, if you reward yourself by thinking lovingly of your hubby when you have a hard day of work, that's reward too. *wink*

What are you saying! I just got up from my, MyLot chair after 6 hours, and decided to go for a stroll in the garden, looked at the beautiful sunset of my balcony. Then the withdrawal symptoms got hold of me and just before I got back here, I scooped into a Huge bowl, Vanilla and chocolate ice cream. As I checked my inbox viola here is your dissuasion on pampering. Now I feel guilty because I think I overindulged LoL

Good thing lord can't read my thoughts. Lol. Well I do go out occasionally when i have extra money. its not often because I am broke most of the time. I take my son out to dinner or sometimes we just order pizza. in the summer time when its warm I'll go sit by the river and just relax. I love the river. How about you lord? What do you do for enjoyment?

This is a very interesting discussion. I am always rewarding everyone else for working so hard or doing a great job. I will wait on them hand and foot and tell them they have been working too hard. But when it comes to me, I dont do that. I seem to never live up to my own expectations. I seem to never to enough no matter how tired I am, I do not tell myself "Well done". I never really thought of this before but no I do not give myself the same respect and reward that I do everyone else that I know. Mayb I will have to change that!. LOL

Hello, wizard,I think I get use to the life without any rewards, no matter i had worked hard and achieve a goal, Just like in mylot, I had earned my first payment, but i do not reward myself ,my money is still in the paypal account, may be I really have to reward myself better when i get the second payment.

Ohhh no, I know that it's not good for everyone. But I guess, I don't reward myself that much. I even don't have enough time for myself. I have noticed that this past few months, I have become very busy on my mini grocery store and staying online with MyLot. I wanted to buy myself a new clothes as a reward but I don't have much money yet. Not for now, I am planning to treat myself out as I receive my first earning with this site.

Well, I was in a SPA last week and had a very relaxing day courtesy of a very generous friend... I've been through a lot of failures, anxieties, worries and problems which started last January of this year and my friends thought I need to relax a little and pamper myself so as not to let crazy ideas inside my brain. Anyway, I do relax once in a while. I know I've been driving myself to the edge that others wanted to shout at me and tell me to stop working, they don't know that I found work relaxing sometimes. When I'm lost in my work, I forgot all my troubles and thus I'm relaxed. There was a time when I got so busy with activities in my life, rendering overtime for work almost everyday, going to church for the choir practice, designing and working on my sisters' wedding invitations, accepting part-time article writing jobs, going to the gym, studying for an exam (that I failed... sob.sob.sob), maintaining a long distance relationship with a very serious guy... that I almost never sleep at all for weeks! Well, mylot is relaxing, that's why I'm addicted to it right now :D. And yes, I reward myself every payday. I go out and dine or watch movies (alone) and buy myself a little something to remind me of that paycheck. I buy a book and give myself a nice 2-3 hours of reading (without interruption)... and yes, I still go out and spend my nights at the rooftop to lie down, look at the stars and relax...

I reward myself once in a while. I usually buy some upgrade to my computer like a new video card, a bigger harddisk and additional memory. A book sometimes. Most of the other stuff we plan are for family, outing, clothes, lunch out, dinner, movies and other stuff are taken cared by my wife. Those that my wife don't want to buy or do, I reward it to myself. It's good to reward your self once you accomplish something. It helps revitalize you and go on to the next challenge in life. Like they say 'Work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

i think previously never used to reward my self, i thought i am not so good to be rewarded for what i did, but after talking to so many people i observed i am not the only fool present on this earth there are so many big fools all around me, from that moment i started rewarding my self. And thanked Allah for giving me wisdom to differentiate between good and foolish people

Ok! My hands are up and Please don't shoot.I knew I wasn't alone when I felt someone was wathing me..lol And since they are spying gadgets installed all ove rmy home then you know all my secrets..lol. No, I don't reward myself. Maybe life would be easier if I did have goals and then would reward myself for when I reach them..Then maybe I would get more done. Lord, I hope you left the spy gadgets out of the bathroom otherwise you have now got many blind people running around screaming "my eyes,my eyes, I'm blind".lol I love y our sense of humor it is a good thing and it helps me out when I'm feeling blue. So get carried away all you like..well as long as they aren't any spy gadgets in the bathroom..:P)When ever i get money I am always thinking what needs paid first or what do we need to keep the household running smoothly..It's not fun to run out of tiolet paper especially if you rewarded youself with the money that could have bought the paper. There is rarely any left for luxeries sadly. Maybe that is why maybe I reward myself with food instead of a book, the movies, going out ,etc..Life is hard and we do need to take time out and do something special for ourselves I think I will start today set a goal and maybe get myself something that isn't a food item. Thanks. Ummmm..when do the spying gadgets get uninstalled??..lol Just kidding, take care and thanks for boosting my mood..:P)

Erghh.. How dare you trespass my territory!!! I am reporting you to the board of solitude for privacy intrusion! And yes, I have gobbled up all the spies. Thank you for sending me food. It has never been so satisfying gobbling up one after another and I think it is the best reward I gave myself so far at someone's expense :P I certainly do think I spend considerable amount of time at myLot, in fact, way too much until someone nearby is constantly nagging. To atone for the negligence, I have already donated my paycheck to charity. This is the best reward for my soul.

Gosh.. I didn't know you are so hungry... I had some spies in the form of cockroaches and lizards... did they taste good? Donating your paycheck to charity is nice but that's not pampering yourself. :P
