I'm sure you have had some responses that do not only disagree with you but give remarks that are quite offhanded or even irritating. How do you respond to these? Do you respond back and state a harsher remark to get even? Or do you take a deep breath and respond in a nice way stating your point without sounding your ready to fight? Or just simply ignore and go on browsing for more intelligent discussions?

I'm new here in myLot but I guess my respond would be just to simply ignore them. It's better not to react. Or if ever, there is really a need to respond, make sure that you defend your point in a mature, subtle and nice way. Don't respond as if you know everything and you're always right.

We are all human being and lets face it when people get nasty it hurts. Am I right or am I right? I know when I have read hateful responses the first thing that happens to me is my heart starts to pound. I mean I can just feel that hurt emotion welling up from the inside. Then my face gets really hot. Then my head starts to spin around.....I'm only kidding about that one! tee heheheh You gotta laugh at life right? Then I just consider the source. I then try to let it go or do what I'm best at making jokes. But that thing your mom always taught, "sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me." well that really isnt true because they do hurt. People can be spiteful and just down right mean, but for every nasty person in life I like to think there is a nice one out there somewhere and you just gotta move on so you can find them. That is pretty much how I deal with it. I just think its really funny because I can feel it happen from my inside out. Gives you a little more time to think about it too.

It's true that it's really upsetting when people responded harshly and it do hurts. And you're right, the best thing to do is just laugh it off especially if the source isn't worth thinking about or getting mad about! Thanks, rickrock!

If someone offends me I will do b or c, depending on the discussion.. That's a. "take a deep breath and respond in a nice way stating my point without sounding like I'm ready to fight!" or sometimes, b. "simply ignore and go on browsing for more discussions" especially if we have already responded two or three times back and forth in that discussion..

I agree with you 101%, flowerchile! Why waste time and energy arguing over futile things? Thanks for responding. I'm glad that this post is still eliciting some response.

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I don't think that has happened to me. This is a place to express your opinion and if someone disagrees, not our problem but if they choose to handle it in a immature way, then shame on them. I'd just ignore them and move on.

Very well said. Thank you. You're right, it's very immature to respond angrily in this kind of forum. Although, I did find some discussions that is quite heated in argument which sometimes gets into a word war. Good for those who just ignore and go on.
