When you respond to a discussion do you Skip the tags?

I usually skip the tags but then check to see if I can add to the tags after I have posted. When creating a discussion, however, I always add three or four tags using some key words which occur in what I have typed and also some which may not.
Tags are very useful because they allow you to see other discussions or responses along the same lines. The best tags are one word or two word ones which describe the topic in fairly general terms. For example, I might tag this discussion with "discussion, response, tags, MyLot, useful, categories, advertisement".
Tags are one way in which MyLot's advertisers deliver targeted ads to our screens. This helps to maximise the payments that MyLot receive and pass on to us so, please, always tag your responses and discussions intelligently and inventively!

Hello, Mr Owlwings, I've missed you. Yes, I always skip tags. Thanks for the information, I'll try to remember why the tags ar useful. If I know a good reason for doing things I will do them but I didn't realise the importance of tagging discussions.

Most often, I skip them. But that is because if I type any in, but the time I respond, there are already too many tags placed to make a difference. What I type does not show.
Plus, what I tag it as, usually someone else will have already tagged it.
So, I am wasting my time at that point.
But I do look to see if there are tags after I skip.
If there are no to just a couple tags, I will add a couple more to help out. :)

Not all tags show - only the first few - but they are there, nevertheless. Try tagging a discussion with an unusual tag and then search for that tag. It should show the discussion in the search list. If it doesn't do so immediately, it may take a little while to get into the index that the Search facility uses.

Tagging PMs is useful if you regularly correspond with people on different topics. For example, I may correspond about other online earning sites, photography and computer problems. If I tag my mails, I can more easily find something I wrote several months ago.

I haven't skip to tag any discussions or responses I made. For me that is a very petty job not to work to. But I think, there are few of us here who were complaining and telling how these tagging thing annoy them. they are not annoying to me in anyway. Infact, what is 2 seconds to tag to.

I agree. Some people seem to find tagging annoying but that is because they do not see them as useful. Some people are very short sighted and, perhaps, selfish. They do not see that this is a community where you give as well as receive.
As I said, I usually skip tagging when responding but then check what tags are already there and add those that I think appropriate.

I normally skip only when I am very lazy. Most of the times, I will at least give one tag. Or more, if it is a very good discussion. I take it as some public service thingy. :P

Sometimes the interface is so slow that I skip tags - especially if I see that it is well tagged already.

Hello, owlwings,I can understand now why mylot post the guidelines telling memebrs to tag whenever possible because they want to maximize their earnings,it is a good thing for mylot and all the members here as if mylot earn more, we will earn more.
Anyway, i will tag no matter i start a discussion or reply, it may make the discussion has higher chance being searched by other members or found out in similar topic section, so you may get more responses .
Thank you for telling us the importance of tagging.

Hello, Easy :) I often look at new discussions and find that people have put no tags at all! Those discussions cannot hope to come up in the list of Other Discussions which you see below every discussion, so they are less likely to get seen. I always add suitable tags if I find a discussion like that (and feel that it is worthwhile). It benefits us all - and most of us are here to help each other, after all.

I usually skip the tags when I'm relpying to the discussion and almost all the tags related to the topic is already posted. However if I'm creating the discussion I always maximize the ten tags needed.

I dont skip tags, tags helps to identify the topics. It is very helpful to know about which topic we are writing and others are writing. It should not be skipped. Atleast one tag should be given for each topic

These days yeah i often skip tags, especially if there are tags already. If ever there is no tag, i try to enter 1 -3 tags so that the topic can be found in the right category.

I try to always tags discussions/responses but sometimes i cannot think of any tags to put in as the person who posted the discussion might already have put in the tags i was thinking of.
If i start a discussion myself, i will always put at least 2 or 3 tags in my discussion as it helps myLot to sort discussions out.

You have it right, I think. There is not much point in adding tags that people have already made. If you can think of new and useful ones which might bring people to a discussion, though, then by all means add them!

I always tag discussions owlwings. I usually try to add at least 4 or 5 of them. Sometimes it's hard to add that many. When I find a discussion without tags I try to add tags that relate to the original discussion.

Whenever I start a discussion, I too will add a few tags to indicate the keywords of what the topic is, but if I'm responding to a discussion I usually never add tags. You're right though one should always add tags to their own discussions that they start

I generally tag all the discussions I respond to, and also tag my own discussions. It is not always easy to think of new, witty and inventive tags, but where possible I put up as many as I can

I always add tags regardless of whether it's a discussion I started, or a response.
When I first joined, I saw someone say that they always tagged their own discussions but not other people's, and so I started doing the same thing.
However, someone else then started a discussion, a little like this one, that stated why we should tag others discussions too, and so I started doing it again. I've been doing that ever since.
