In my country i think people from urban area prefer both boys and girls, there no discrimination between them, however in case of ruler places i think people prefer boys over girls, as they consider girls as burden, while boys as money makers. foolishness and nothing more then that

In the past when the basis of the economy is largely agricultural, boys were much preferred because of physical strength and the emphasis heavily on the head of the family.
But times has changed then. We are already in the modern economy where knowledge is the prime commodity. So this makes boys and girls at equal footing with each other. I would say personally that the gender is not that important in today's world. Both could contribute to our society. Both are valuable.
Whether boys, girls, gays, lesbian -- it does not matter.

Cause boys take more responsibility in a family, boys are more popular. The society puts so much stress on the boys' shoulder, they live under the presure. They should work hard to earn enough money to support the expense of his family. But some momen don't sympathe men, scolding them for they didn't rich or earned less than others.Even more, some men don't respect their husbands at all.In my opinion,it's a shame of them to do that.

I am not sure if Chinese families are still in favor of boys than girls. I know that during the time of "One Child Policy" in their country they usually prefer to have a son than a daughter. Spartan prefers both. Boys became Spartan warriors and girls bears Spartan warriors so both genders are important to them. In our country at the moment, we don't really care if it is a boy or a girl. But what I know back then, during the Spanish era. The Filipino families prefer to have a boy. Because they can help more in their livelihood. Since almost all Filipinos that time are farmers.

I live in the U.S. and I firmly believe that a healthy child whether male or female is where it is at. I delivered 2 girls and 2 boys and they were aech one abundle of joy in one way or another
