As most of you will know, I am a big cat lover, and many of my friends here will have been following my story of my kitten Lily, and her fight for survival after a horrendous accident.
Well this post is not about Lily at all - it is just a story I read in the newspaper this morning, and I thought it was so lovely I wanted to share it with my cat loving friends here.
It is about a French tabby cat called Mimine. Last year, her owners moved, and because they didn't want to disrupt her, they gave her to some friends and neighbours, and thought she would be perfectly happy. But Mimine missed her owner and her two young daughters so much, that she started out on an incredible journey over 500 miles to find them again!
She had never been to their new home before, and it took her 13 months to walk across France ad face many dangers to get there But one say she just turned up in the garden of their new home! Of course they will keep her now and all lived happiy every after:-))
Many people say animals are not intelligent, and that people are superior. Well - sorry - I do not agree. That tiny tabby cat had a strength of purpose, courage, bravery and instinct, greater than many human beings - not to mention love and loyalty beyond bounds.
Thanks for reading this!

What a wonderful story. It brought tears to my eyes.
Many years ago a male German Shepherd strayed onto our place. We took him in after not being able to find his owners and we called him Kaiser. I used to work in the city and would take my children about 15 klms away to the child minder then park up the road to catch the train. On some days I need to travel another 10 klms to park several blocks from the train station in a huge carpark.
Quite often, I would get off the train to find Kaiser waiting by the car up the road from the child minders and a couple of times I found him when I was parked further away in the big car park. His feet would be bloodied and torn when he travelled the extra distance. The heartwrenching part is that he would get in the car to come home and within a few minutes he would be vomiting....he was car sick! The poor old guy. I truly loved this dog as he was devoted to the children. They could wander off anywhere to play with impunity as he would shadow them always.
What made me wonder though is why he didn't just go to where the kids were? Strange.

Dogs certainly have a great loyalty - especially where children are concerned. Thanks for sharing your story.

I've read that kind of stories before and also heard from friends how cats survived abuse and accidents. It's sad to hear how many of us act worse than animal itself, being abusive to the weak both animals and humans. We forget that if we live in the jungle side by side with wild animals just bare hands no equipment, not many of us will survive. I can't stop thinking about your kitty, I love cats too. I wish her the best. If only I lived there, I would take care of her and keep her indoor, safe with me.

I reckon that's why we get on so well my friend, because we have four cats! Each have their own personality, each is part of the family and I love them all, although I do have a special fondness for Zeus (the cat in the photo) when he shows his presence, he treats this place like a hotel! Animals are extremely intelligent and it doesn't take them long to suss stuff out and they can be quite crafty with it! I much prefer to have cats as company than a relationship, more reliable, loving and don't answer you back! My cats send their love to Lily x

Wow, when is the movie coming out? I still think that cats are smart enough to run the country. Time and time again they display true intelligence, something lacking in much of today's government. I have 2 cats and soon I am going to teach them to do my taxes. I can't figure them out anymore. But a cat? They can figure out how to do anything they want to do. Extremely persistant creatures...

What a lovely story. I have a friend that found a tiny baby kitten they named cc because that's how much milk she drank at first from the dropper bottle. When she grew up they moved & had to leave her behind. About 8 months later my friend was walking home in the rain & this white cat came & stood under the umbrella with her. She looked like cc & she picked her up. The cat then started nursing on her ear like cc did. She walked home with the cat following her & they called back to where they had left the cat only to discover the cat had gone missing about a month after they moved. cc was thin but on regular feedings soon was her big pretty self again.

They are indeed! I've only had my cat for a few months, though i've wanted a cat almsot all my life! I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful cat, she really is perfect for me and my partner. She's very loving, and incredibly affectionate. She will happily let me give her allthe cuddles and fuss in the world! She always greets me when i get some and bascially is always there to cheer me up. Just thinking about her makes me smile, and i miss her loads when at work. I always though that once i finally got a cat i might be dissapointed, but in fact she's so much more than i could have ever asked for!

Wow..what a great story. I have read similar stories like this one, in the US. While they are moving, they lost their cat. And they moved from one state to another and it's a long long long long trip. Anyways, the family are so sad because they lost the cat. And you know what, after 5 years, the cat found their home. I hope my cat can do that to me too...

Yes I believe the story because that happened to my sister. She gave her cat to a friend which took it to the province but the cat was able to go back to my sister. Cats are very intelligent and sensitive that they cannot just be lost easily.

You are right. Cats are truly amazing. Many people just think of them as lazy cute animals that just sleep and eat..
Well, they do a lot of that all right..haha, but they are also very smart and have done some amazing things.
I have heard several times of cats saving their owners lives by waking the to the danger of a fire that has broken out int he night.

Indeed they do! As my poor, sick Lily is a tabby, I sometimes wish she was less adventurous, but you cannot stop instinct.

it's really have this amazing instincts. i heard the same story but this time they really mean to lose that cat. after a long months, there's the cat in front of their door. And who say's they are not intelligent? How come they can sense if there is typhoon coming, or earthquake or any disaster? They even know if someday will die. God created us, Human, Animal & Plants with our own distinction & capabilities.

I am not really a cat person, but am really moved by this story. I find it really interesting that you care so much for cats. I never owned a cat, but have played with some kittens when I was young. I used to have some dogs in the past. Now, I am a bird watcher, and I feast my eyes with the sight of some rare birds every morning and evening, as they come and perch on my garden trees. I live in the village where the birds are very much welcome to nest on garden plants. They are very friendly too, So, it is better than owning them. I can watch them in the natural surrounding, feed some of them, and they pay attention to me and get friendly with me as well. I have taken some pictures of them. they pose for me at times!

These types of stories are incredible. I just never have understood how the animals manage to find their former owners? It is amazing.

I'm not a fan of cats or dogs myself, however I do love to give them attention when I'm visiting friends and family who own them. Quite a few silly people around here mistreat them, I might not have a pet but this is still a shame.
Thanks for sharing this,

wow .. that is really amazing.
I'm happy that the cat finally found her family.
It's incredible that the cat had gone 500 miles on 13 months.
Here on mylot i read that a lady had a cat , she moved in the city and she left the cat with her mother. After a few days the cat had disappeared and she never found her. I told her that i think her cat had gone to find her. I hope i was right i feel confident after reading your story ;)
Have a nice day !
