Now I guess I will get called a snob again like I did after the do you have a home alarm system but I'm going to ask. John's mom is an artist and I love her stuff but for years before I knew John I never hung pictures on my walls that you would by say at walmart. I would go to flea market or garage sales and look for something some painted or made with anything. I love art I love the idea that someone's hands made this. I could even be a vase an ashtray or something I could not identify believe me I have a few of those. I don't like mass produced things. For instance I had a mass produced coffee table and end tables. John's mom messed them up by denting them with a hammer, sand paper, a then crackle them and antiqued them now I LOVE them . They look a 100 years old. Her paintings are everywhere in our home and anyone who visits goes crazy over them which makes me very proud. she is very folky and so non main steam. I'm wondering about other Mylotters. Please don't feel because I'm not a standard person that you expressing your love of Ethan Allen or Pottery Barn is not OK please share!! I'm curious how many of you prefer real art or prints, or your kids art lol Cheryl

I have a refrigeratior covered in kids art and coloring book pages! Beyond that you will find art in my living room, it is art done by my sister. She graduated five years ago from Kansas State with a associates in art. I love her art the ones I have been allowed to keep range from charcoal, photographs, pottery, prints, and paintings. I think she is very taleted and I am happy to display her art in my home. I have one charcoal of an angel that everyone always comments on, they just love it. I don't think I am a snob because I display my sister's talent.

I like pictures that have pretty scenes and colo on them my mother gave me one and told me I would be in trouble if anything ever happened to it so when we moved I almost forgot it and I had to go back and get it but it's still pretty and I also like pictures that tells a story.

My mom has a set of prints that tell a wedding story I simply love them. Even though there reproductions they are so unique I would love to have them hint hint mom lol. She was them in her front hall and everyone stops to look at them entering the house. She also has several of John's moms painting now but her favorite is one that was done of her home that she treasure done over her dining room table. its nice that your mom gave you a picture and wanted you to hold on to it it must mean it holds special meaning to her and now you. thanks for commenting Cheryl

my Jesus the Sacred Heart painting - painting of Jesus the Sacred heart on a mousepad
Well, I have a small house with not a lot of wall space, but I do have quite a bit of things on the wall. Above the couch is a wal-mart special painting of a scene...cabin in the woods with stream...that kind of thing. All the other living room walls are covered in religious art prints, or home interior prints with religious sayings or my own paintings such as my Jesus the Sacred Heart that sits on my mantle. Our hallway is covered over in family and childrens pictures that have accumulated over the years. I guess that's about it. No art that is worth any money.

I was hoping you were going to add your painting thanks so much its just lovely. I love pictures in my home to hon.I have an idea for my new home I have a narrow hallway and I"m going to make a picture wall there of our entire families. I think it will be nice to have so we can add on each year. My paintings are worth anything to anyone but me hon but they are very precious to me and I would cry to lose a single one even the 10 cent ones from a yard sale. I get very attached to things for some strange reason lol. Thanks so much for responding and sharing your picture its means a lot to me Cheryl

I have my kids art work hanging on the walls. Some of it is on the fridge. Actually there is a very special painting my daughter did when she was in year 6. It is an Aboriginal dot painting. I have it in the lounge room. I do have a couple of real paintings, but they are not particularly valuable. I would love some genuine Aboriginal paintings.

One of my best friends from high school was really into art. I have a couple of pictures she did back them framed and up at my house. I also have a picture my oldest niece did when she was learning how to write her name when my husband and I got married. We have two pictures that my son colored hanging on the refrigerator, but we haven't framed any yet. He's still just a baby, after all. :) Most of the stuff on my walls is actual pictures of my son. We had his picture done every month of his first year, plus we have pics that we took with our own cameras.
