Whats the deal with associated content

it seems that every one of my articles are being rejected for some reason or another. most of which i have to change a small paragraph or a few have even been denied because someone else has content about the same subject. is there not a difference of opinion? WTF, i don't understand. Are we not allowed to write our own views. I mean i just did a piece on child abuse and it was denied because someone else has similar content. this is the fifth denial this week. after only one being denied prior to this rampage. is anyone else having this problem?

I haven't ben getting rejections but the offers have definitely gone down. I'm pretty new to AC and it's discouraging. I worked hard to get key word density, put in headers and not use passive voice. But now things that are better written are getting less money. Definitely doesn't give new people much encouragement.

They always tell me I can put my articles up there for free. But I work too hard to do that. If they reject them I put them on my blogs. Or go to Constant Content. Have sold a few articles there. They charge a fee though. So watch out if you are going to use them. I've also used Trion. But the pay there stinks. Same for Helium. Not much earnings there.

Having the same problem. They rejected maybe 5 articles out of my first 50. But they rejected my last seven. I did sell one today. They seem to be getting picky or something. It might be that their last promotion did not go well and they are rejecting articles hoping people will put them on there for free. And generate free revenue ofr them. I have heard the same story from a lot of writers there over the last week. Something has changed. Could be new editors too. Who knows?

Are they rejecting them altogether, or just saying that they won't pay for them? Maybe if it's the second case, they just don't want to pay for articles on a topic if they already have similar articles.
With so many writers turning out so many articles, I figure they would eventually get to the point where they have a lot of similar articles. Or maybe they're having money problems and are looking to pay out money later (through the page-view bonuses) rather than sooner through the upfront payments.
I can't really say for sure, since lately I've only been writing for their special content offers.

they are rejectng them all together on most of them, others they have asked me to rewrite portions. i had one that was denied because i put links to sites in the bottom of the body instead of in the helpful links area, it was denied, i had to take the links out. so i have done this and resubmitted so lets see what happens now

I haven't been getting rejections, but I think they've forgotten about me. My page views haven't changed in weeks, though I've gotten comments recently.
The more news about child abuse the better, I think. It might help put an end to it.
Maybe they were being too generous with what they accepted. Some things had so many errors they wouldn't get good grades in sixth grade, but it looks like now they are being too tough. Or maybe their priorities are askew.

my page views havent really changed in about two weeks, but i have gotten comments as well. i felt the same way about the subject as well, but obviously they didnt. they didi say that i could submit it for non pay if i wanted, but i have worked too hard to sell for nothing. I dont know, i still might to get bonuses on them at least. thanks for the comments

I've been having the same problem lately. The accepted the first 20 so fast I thought great I can do this. Then for the last 2 weeks everything has been rejected. So I'm taking a break from them. Maybe they are tired of seeing so much of me or something. I don't know what the deal is but I'll write some more in a week or so and maybe my luck will change.. Tammy

If what you have written here is an average sample of your writing skills, I can see why you have been rejected on Associated Content. Try reading all of the getting started tips and the series of articles by Barefoot (Randy). He has several well written articles that will teach you just how to get published. You can speak your mind but you have to do it in such a way that others will want to read what you have to say.
I am one of the newest writers there as well as here. All three of my submissions so far were published within a day of being submitted.

You can't judge what someone writes at myLot with something they are submitting for pay. Ask most of the people who have been at AC for awhile and they will tell you something changed in the last week or so. New editors or something. Maybe they are going broke. Who knows?

Obviously mjhicks is just starting her writing because if you actually knew anything about AC you would now something has for sure changed and they are rejecting alot of articles from good writers I have been with AC for just over 2 months and have written 30 articles and never have I had one rejected but with in the last week i have had 4 rejected so mjhicks know your facts before you come responding with some garbage like that. and good luck with AC

that is fine i understand. i also write for other publications as well. And yes my style of writing has changed as well. most of my articles are very different and the ones that were rejected were pretty run of the mill. as far as whining, that is not what i am doing, what i am doing is asking my peers if there have been others in my shoes or if i am alone and need to change back to my original style. which i will probably do anyway. however thanks for your comments. also i do appreciate any comments wether good or bad, following you will find a link to my content page, i also get back with everyone that leaves comments, and follow up on any questions that they have. Thanks again

i have written about 10 articles for them and they accepted 8 out of 10. I wrote about traveling or a certain restaurant review etc... It seems like they really enjoy accepting those. And include a picture or 2 I think that helps too

I haven't had anything rejected lately, but I had an Earth Day article up there so long that I had to post it for free so that I could get it up there in time. Otherwise it would have been outdated by the time they finally got around to reviewing it. Thanks for the heads-up on this situation. You could really start getting a complex if they rejected so many of your articles in a row without knowing this.

About 50% of what I have submitted lately has been rejected. Mostly reviews of music and movies and a little bit of other things such as restaurant reviews that I have been referred to as "prose". I don't know, I think some of the people who choose the content are idiots.

i guess that might be the case. I did a story about ed gein a serial killer that many movies were based on, they said it was a movie review, even though i only refrenced the movie in the last paragraph. Write On.

Rejections are frustrating... I could wallpaper my house with rejection letters from "regular" (print) submissions I have made over the years.
Perhaps AC is reaching "critical mass" in some way... and the "powers that be" are deciding that once there are 10, 20, 50 (or whatever) contributions on any given topic they start getting VERY picky about what goes on the site.
If you look at it from the "other side," (being as some (a) looking for information or (b) running the web site) do you REALLY want to wade through 500 mediocre opinions about American Idol... and do you really want to PAY people for the 501st mediocre article about American Idol? AC is not in the business of "paying writers," they are in the business "providing information," and ultimately "making money."

Actually I'm not having that problem at all. I just sold two articles this week. One was on advantages of smoking in a work place and the other was on walking path etiquette. I've only gotten one article rejected and that was on a review I did for a college concert. I guess it wasn't that interesting. I'm not sure what they are looking for, but best of luck to you in the future!

I am sorry to hear that they have been rejecting your articles lately. I just recently started with AC, and so far that have purchased everything that I have submitted. I have noticed that the pay is not all that great as some of the people who were there before the PPM program that they have going now. I did notice that the article that I sent to them did not have typo's and now that it is published there are. Im not sure what would cause this. Anyway you should give us the link to your work I would definatly like to read it. Here is mine if you are interested: www.associatedcontent.com/user/67042/brian_cote.html

I have tweeked them and resubmitted most of them. that seems to be the general opinion. Good luck with your writing. and make sure you link up with the others here at ac we all comment on each others articles there as well. Write On!

Yes I have just had two rejected because they had too many keywords in them. They have actually warned me so I am reluctant to do any more articles.
It isn't like I'm copying things from elsewhere, I'm actually coming up with these sentences on my own. I do use ideas or facts from elsewhere at times but I'm not a copier.
I guess great minds think alike.
Good luck with your articles.

yes i have had on e denied for that as well, i am afraid that things will only get worse before getting better. There are many people out there that write, and just as many ideas, keep up the good work and know it seems to be almost everyone that is dealing with this.

I haven't had too many rejections since I joined in October of 2005; I've only been told by the content managers that they'd consider posting pieces for no pay three times, and I've been given low bids on a couple of articles because other writers have covered the same topics.
I'm sure that if both of us were to write articles in the "Content Calls" (requests for stories on specific subjects), we'd be getting more bids and articles published. I hardly ever do this, partly because I tend to turn in non-exclusive reviews and stuff I want to write about rather than "assigned topics."

yes out of 42 articles i have had two that were asked to be submitted as non pay. which is bad enough, but its worse when it is down right rejected. i do a lot of non exclusive things as well. have a great day and good luck

I think that for the most part, we are all having this same problem. I have submitted a lot of sites within the past few weeks that were for free because they kept getting rejected.
I don't know why they have had such a big change in role for what Content Producers can or can not write or submit. I think that they need to get a few things together.
I don't really know if it is because a new policy has went into effect that I am not aware of or what the problem is.
Just keep up the good work and submit them anyways, at least you will be able to get the performance bonus.

I just signed up with associated content and submitted a article yesterday. I suppose I will not hear back from them for a week or two. Interested to see if it will get denied or not. Prior to your recent denials- were you satisfied with the site and thier pay offers?
