Do you know what this sign means?

I am now convinced after two days of driving all over the metro area that most people do not know what this sign means.
I was almost side swiped twice and then actually witnessed an accident. Because people using the on-ramps did not yield to the proceeding traffic.
The accident was caused by the on-coming driver simply not even looking to see if his way was clear he just barged onto the highway and right into the side of the car in front of me. Lucky for me I do not tailgate so I was able to stop.
The guy who caused the whole accident thought that the traffic already on the highway should have been looking for him and gotten out of the way. He even argued with the police that it wasn't his fault even though he failed to yield the right of way.
What is up with drivers these days? Should we all have to take a written test every time we renew our license just to keep up with how the rules really are?

I know how you feel. People just seem to act like traffic signs just don't exist. I live on a street with a STOP sign on the corner, they constantly zip right through it. I hope that the cops gave the dummy who ran the YIELD sign a big fat ticket! Perhaps people SHOULD have to take a written test every time they renew their licenses, but then that would be so unfair to those of us who obey the traffic signs. But think about it...everyone always pays the price for a few idiots who don't respect the laws...Nice discussion, take care...

I don`t drive anymore but I know what you are talking about , its scary to watch other drivers and the mistakes they make .
Makes me glad I don`t drive now adays , life for everyone is just too busy and they need to be there an hour ago .
Sometimes I think everyone should be made to rewrite the test just to keep themselves uptodate with any changes over the years ...
Good point ...

I am glad you did not get in the wreck. I see drivers everyday that pull out in front of others and do other stupid things that can cause wrecks. I have also done a few stupid things, but I try to be careful all the time. Some people do not have any respect for others.

Its amazing how many people don't even look for road signs so often miss them. Some even drive too quick to be able to see any road signs. The danger of tailgating is that you concentrate only on the car ahead. If the car in front will need an emergency break then your breaking distance will never be enough. The sign means for you to give way as you said so. There are so many drivers that are so agressive and they are the one's who always fail to yield.

Some of the irresponsible people thought that it's not necessary to obey the rule all the time.I'm sure he understand what exactly the sign for, instead of slow down or stop he would rather ignore the sign and proceed his driving.
Eventhogh he knew he was wrong ,he insist to deny to defend himself. This is so wrong and rediculars. The cop should give a big fat ticket for violated the rule.
