I have a staff member who is finding that at night his left foot is aching to such a degree that he is having to take pain killers. He seems to have a circulation problem as hsi foot is ice cold. he can walk about in the factory during the night and this only happens in winter and at night. He could be HIv positive and is 45 years old.

I would suggest getting him to Seek a Doctor, and have Blood work and Circulation problems tested and see what they can do for him. There are so many New therapies out there that this should not be ignored.

There are all kinds of possible explanations for this and you aren't going to sort it out without a visit to your GP and a proper examination. Here are some of the options - it might be a nerve problem - either the nerve in your foot, or a nerve which starts in the spine and travels down the leg. It might be a back problem, with pressure on a nerve from a disc, or arthritis, etc.It doesn't sound like it will just go away if you wait. Get along and get examined to find out exactly what it is.Hiv test also needs to be done for treatment.

If we ignore that the guy could be a HIV+ also, and only concentrate on the blood circulation problem, I would advise him to get treated from a physio-therapist. A physio will tell him some excercises which he can do while even at home, such excercises will help the blood circulation in the affected foot.
If the guy is not in the position to visit Doctor immediately he can just massage the foot or keep it in warm water for sometime, it will also help blood circulation. However, I would advise that depending upon the severity of the situation , he should visit a doctor as soon as possible.

he is thinking absolutely correct because in winter the circulation of blood is become low and in summer its circulate fast so in winter say him to exercise in morning and evening after some days you find the pain will reduce so do this and see the change.

I would err on the side of caution and advise the staff member to see a doctor. Does your company have a doctor on call for employee emergencies? Even though this might nit be an "emergency" in the sense that we think of, it is a health problem. Also, if there are reasons for not seeing a doctor, (such as lack of finances or health insurance), you might research low cost clinics in your area and see if he qualifies for them.

have you asked him to consult a doctor so you will not have to guess what is really happening to him?

No question, a doctor's evaluation should be the only answer here! There are many things that could cause this situation. Not only that, but he needs to be aware whether he is HIV positive or not.

Surely his doctor could find out. He had to get the pain pills somewhere.

Probably he is lacking in vitamins. I am 49 years old, but I don't feel like him. Is this a symtom of HIV ? May be he can try to take some Protein, Vitamin B and Calcium Magnesium from Nutrilite.

some people have Reynaud's syndrome, which involves poor circulation. It can cause pain, numbness, or a cold feeling in hands or feed. This person should probably see a doctor and get tested for this and other diseases, as well as HIV.
