Genetic engineering promises to make us all immortal. The day ,it seems is not far, when this scientific revolution will bring to us a life of thousand years. But will it be really possible /Can we change the rules of Nature ? All of us realize that in this world we are here to play our roles as in a movie for a brief period. When the climax comes, every living organism has to die. No one can live forever. Death is the ultimate truth. Challenging the course of life and death.. IMMORTALITY... it doesn't exist in this mortal world.

I'd certainly hope to reach at least a hundred these days, I have som amny things that I want to achive with my life, but a longer life expectancy also comes with huge responsibilities. As a species we still reproduce too fast, if we want to live longer as individuals we need to have fewer children so we don't make the planet any more crowded than it already is. We need to respect the envrionment and do everything in our power not to abuse natural resources. Until we have tackled these points we don't deserve an extended lifespan.

I dont think you are prety correct in saying that genetic engineering promises immortality. For that to happen you have to stop the natural process called ageing. Without stopping that you cant make someone immortal. And how to stop ageing? its almost immpossible, because its a natural phenomenon. I wouldnt like to live forever if i am not young enough.

I would not believe myself the tall claims of genetic engineers . Immortality ...it is beyond doubt - impossible.

That's impossible. God set men to live not more than 120 years. In fact Moses lived only 120 because he was already covered by God's pronouncement which He said during the time of Noah. And do you like to live more than a hundred years old? I don't like at all and if I die now, it's okay with me. I'm 54 years old and I already feel so many ailments lol!

The world is already overcrowded in many places. If people were to live for 1000 years, I can only imagine what it would be like. Not enough resources or jobs, and I'm sure there would be severe restrictions on reproduction if that happens.

you are correct, the world will reach 8 billion in population within the next 30 years. They want to develop self-sustaining habitats so that they can chuck people into space or onto mars.
but if i was immortal - i would also like to be invincible - like superman - that way i won't have to live eternity with disgusting injuries that don't heal. I think maybe that is the consequence to immortality - since if our cells stop regenerating - then we won't be able to reheal.
I saw some research about how fish oil prevents heart attacks by making the blood less thick - so when you get an injury it takes a lot longer to heal - but your arteries are less likely to clog up.
For everything good - there must always be something bad - that is the balance of nature from god's will.
